George Borum is an experienced education leader and founder of Schenectady Scholars Charter School, dedicated to helping students reach their full potential through innovative, student-centered learning.
With over 16 years in urban education, he has held key leadership roles and is committed to creating environments where students and educators can thrive.

Siara Ramos is the Founder and CEO of A & S Life and Career Coaching LLC, leveraging 16+ years across corporate tech, higher education, and nonprofits to help over 200 high-achieving women advance their careers.
A recognized leader and community advocate, she serves on WMHT’s Advisory Board, co-leads the Catalysts for Change Alumni Committee, and champions academic excellence as Chair of Schenectady Scholar Charter School.
Board Vice-Chair
Dr. Ashley L. Bennett is a dedicated educator and Director of College Counseling at Emma Willard School, where she guides students through the college admissions process while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Beyond her work at the school, she serves on the boards of Girls Inc. of the Greater Capital Region, the Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools (ACCIS), and Smith College’s DEI Counselor Advisory Board, advancing student success and equity in education.
Board Treasurer
Iledeja Yancy is a finance and business management professional with an MBA in Management, extensive experience as an Outsourced CFO, grants specialist, and senior claims representative, and a proven track record in strategic planning, financial operations, and relationship management.
She also serves on multiple boards and community organizations, leveraging her leadership, analytical skills, and innovative thinking to drive organizational success and community impact.
Board Secretary
Virginia Rawlins is the founder of Building Blocks Together, dedicated to promoting homeownership and economic empowerment in minority communities through education, mentorship, and real estate investment.
Since establishing the organization in 2018, she has allocated $1.5 million in grants, hosted community forums, and continues to advocate for systemic changes that ensure equitable access to housing, fostering financial independence and generational wealth.
